Even though this short is a bit ancient, it never gets old. I watched it for the first time many (many) years ago, and I just happen to run across it again a couple of days ago. I wanted to share it for the very few in the industry that haven’t seen it – is an ad agency spoof about how a marketing campaign is made.
It’s “R” rated for language, so be advised.

A few weeks ago, we responded to an RFP for a big restaurant account. (Note to anyone looking for an agency, we love those.)
In this particular RFP one of the questions they asked us to respond to asked “What is the best campaign you have ever seen and why?”
Wow, what an interesting question and we really spent a lot of time thinking about it. So, I thought some of you might enjoy hearing our response and I know we would really be interesting in hearing back from you on how you might answer this question.

As a creative, I’ve always struggled to draw a clear line on what’s my limit – how far am I willing to go in the pursuit of the “great idea” without compromising personal values? As a company, we’ve always stayed away from any business that doesn’t align with our value system – ex. we’ve turned down several lucrative web projects for the adult industry simply because we don’t want to have that association.
Case in point are adverting campaigns such this one (PlayStation) – I know this “controversial and disturbing” approach to their ads is probably quite effective with their demographic and not to mention memorable. Nonetheless, there is something inside of me that just feels sick… I think I have found my line!
