Blue Clover Launches Web Site for MLS - San Antonio
San Antonio, Texas – Addy-award winning branding firm Blue Clover has launched a Web site, www.mls-sanantonio.com, for a Major League Soccer (MLS) exhibition match between the New York/New Jersey Metrostars and the Colorado Rapids that will take place on Saturday, March 27, 2004, at 7:30 p.m. in San Antonio’s Blossom Athletic Center. Tickets can be purchased on the new Web site.
Officials say early ticket sales have been brisk and urge all fans to buy tickets now because of limited seating at the facility. Advance tickets are $15 per person and VIP tickets are $50 per person and include attendance at a reception with the two MLS teams on Friday, March 26, 2004.
“Blue Clover is thrilled to be a part of this team because we strongly believe in the soccer industry in San Antonio, and in giving back to the community,” said Jose Sena, CEO of Blue Clover. “Blue Clover created and maintains the highly interactive Web site which allows fans to purchase tickets online.”
The San Antonio Metropolitan Youth Soccer Institute (SAMYS) and Blue Sports Entertainment have given Blue Clover the opportunity to partner with them to bring this exciting game to San Antonio.
"SAMYS is excited to be part of this grassroots effort to unite San Antonio's soccer family,” said Edward Sakiewicz, president of SAMYS. “This match will fuel the passion, provide inspiration for players, coaches and parents and will engage the community as never before in history to represent a true cross-section of the San Antonio soccer community and may help yield the city an MLS team in the future.”
Mayor Garza’s initiative to start a soccer team in San Antonio is fueled by the need to encourage San Antonians to regularly participate in a sport or physical activity to improve individual health, and to demonstrate to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Association that the City is ready for a San Antonio MLS team.
“The City of San Antonio is very fortunate to be able to host and watch two of the MLS’ best teams at a venue like the Blossom Athletic Center,” said Mayor Ed Garza. “It allows fans to be close to the action.”
The game will include Eddie Pope from the MetroStars, who plays for the U.S. National Team, and Chris Carrieri from the Rapids.
